Terry has been practicing Iyengar Yoga and many other styles of yoga for over 16 years, and he became a certified teacher in 2014 at Prairie Yoga in Lisle. One of the inspirations for becoming a yoga teacher came from the saying: “To Teach Is To Learn Twice.” Terry’s teaching experience includes private lessons and classes at MK Lab Pilates (now Shyft) in Naperville and Yoga Among Friends in Downers Grove.
It started as a way to stretch and recover the body from the physical demands of being a home building contractor, and from sports like soccer, running and skiing, but he soon realized many other benefits of yoga`. Along with improvements in flexibility, balance, strength and endurance, yoga can help one learn to focus, relax, let go, be more calm, understanding and compassionate with yourself and others. Getting to know your own body and self and making the difficult become easy are among the fruits of yoga, and it can be enjoyable, even fun. If you asked his daughters, they would tell you he believes yoga and grapefruit are the cures for anything and everything.
